Bio

JC Gonzo (b. 1989, USA) is an artist, writer, and filmmaker currently based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and originally from Anthony, New Mexico. His work focuses on the convergence of cultural and ecological histories, often through a queer, metaphysical, and socio-political lens. Approached as a form of meta-ecological research, these bodies of work act as both documents and celebrations of chaos in the natural world.

From 2020 through 2023, Gonzo published the Southwest artist-showcase zine, Cuidado, for which he received a Fulcrum Fund Award in 2022. His work has been exhibited at the New Mexican Museum of Art and No Name Cinema. In 2024, he was an artist in residence at The Ranch Residency in La Madera, New Mexico. Gonzo has written reviews and interviewed artists for the Santa Fe Reporter, Sensitive Skin, White Fungus, and others. He studied art at the College of Santa Fe with a self-designed degree in Sexual Liberation as Art.
